is 8 too late?

DS is starting rice cereal tonight!!  Doc said to feed it to him out of a bowl with a spoon and to give it for breakfast and dinner. DH and I don't do his 5pm feeding during the week b/c we don't get home til 6...so we want to do cereal at his 8pm feeding, which is the last before bed (bed is 9pm). Is that too late? TIA!

I would give it to him at 7. I give food too DD in between bottles. So your LO will have a bottle at 5 Cereal at 7 then last bottle at 8.

Can whoever watches him while you work feed him at 5:00?

I think that would be a better time for the second cereal feeding for several reasons.  The first being that solid foods, especially rice cereal, can cause a baby to be gassy and constipated.  Not something you want to find out right before bed.

Also, the goal with feedings is to work up to a breakfast, lunch and dinner routine (and two snacks inbetween, but that starts around 10 months). 8:00 seems kind of late for a baby to eat dinner.

If you really want to be the ones who do the dinner feeding, perhaps tweak his schedule so he eats at 6 when you get home and move back his last bottle feeding to 8:30 or just before he goes to bed.
