I'm going to BRU later today to buy our 3rd baby monitor. We had a summer infant one that had horrible static, and now our Sony BabyCall just stopped working all together (that one also had static but we dealt with it).
Does anyone have a monitor they love (non-video)?
Re: why do baby monitors suck?
We got ours at Target. I have no complaints.

I love my angelcare monitor. I think it was the best money I ever spent. He is now moving around in his crib and i thought the alarm would go off if he wasnt exactly on the sensor mat but it doesnt. It has great sound on it too
We have the sony. The range sucks. The range alarm goes off when we are right under her room.
We just bought a video monitor that DH is setting up right now. I hope we like it.
I have THIS one from Target and I like it. Its very sound sensitive. I can hear him breathing if I turn it up enough. The only thing I don't like is that the base plugs into the wall, so if he's not sleeping in his bedroom then I either have to un plug it from his room and put it where he is or go without.
