On the weekends or when you are on the go a lot during the day- do you try to get LO their regular naps in the crib in between outings or do you think it's ok for them to sleep in their carseat while out and about?
It depends where we are going and what we are doing. If I am running errands I will try to do it around her naps. If I am going to a BBQ or the beach or something, I will bring her stroller and have her sleep in that or on blankets in the shade. If she does fall asleep in her carseat, I just let her stay asleep because I can keep an eye on her.
I think it's better to let her sleep when she's tired, wherever we are, than to try to push her nap until we get home and she is overtired. I try to work around her schedule but I don't let it tie me to the house on special days.
With DD, I let her sleep whenever she wants to, wherever we are. She sleeps well in her car seat. DS is really cranky and tired if he just catches a cat nap in the carseat though, and he has always been that way. I always tried to make sure he got his naps at home in his bed. Every kid is different I think, but if they will nap in their carseat and it doesnt mess up their schedule, I say let 'em!
We used to let her just sleep in the carseat. However, now she has put herself on a schedule and we discovered if we aren't home for naps, she doesn't sleep well/long and is massively cranky all day.
If we're going out, but are close to home, then I try to work around her naps. She usually won't sleep in the carseat unless it's a longer ride and she gets very cranky if she misses/late for a nap. If we have somewhere special to be, I try my best to have her nap at home before we go. Otherwise, we just have to go and hope for the best. If we are going longer distances (1-2 hours away) then I have her nap in the carseat.

I bring his pacifier and his lovie bear and let him sack out in the carseat. As long as I have those two things he can pretty much sleep well anywhere.
I'm not sure that car / carseat naps are really 'restful' enough for him, so we try to have the majority of naps at home in the crib. He is currently between 2-3 naps per day, so one while out is OK...usually the shorter noon nap. The morning and afternoon naps are usually in the crib.
Yes it makes errands and adventures a bit difficult, but he is SO much easier to be around when well-rested!
Sarah takes her longest nap in the morning, so we try to wait until after that to do any running. She is super sensitive to loud noises, so she'll nap like crap or not at all when we're out.

So now we are stuck at home during nap times.
