Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Teething

Hi ladies, popping over with a quick question. Ds has not been himself this last week and all signs/symptoms point to teething. He'll be 12 weeks Tuesday, so it just seems too early.......did anyone else experience teething at this stage? Any tips would be appreciated, I can't stand to see my normally happy baby so upset. (not to mention we have a 6hr flight Tuesday *cringe*) Tia.

Re: Teething

  • We haven't experienced it yet, but some babies get teeth really soon. It could also be a growth spurt. GL, I hope you figure it out and get some relief!

  • Seems early but some babies get teeth really early.  I've been thinking that Claire may be getting some teeth soon as well - she's been so weird lately!

  • I suspect DD is teething.  Drooling incessantly & has the green, mucusy poops sometimes that are supposed to point to teething.  She's also putting her rattles in her mouth & gumming the edges of them & biting down on me sometimes when she BFs.  There is a hard spot on one of her lower gums & it looks like something might be going on there, but nothing has popped through the skin yet.

  • I remember my cousin's 2 bottom teeth cut through the exact day she turned 3 months.  It can happen!

  • With DD1, I typically notice that the teething symptoms come quite a bit before the teeth actually pop through.  I heard the painful part for them isn't so much the popping through the gums, but when the teeth are moving up.  Everytime I'd think she was getting a tooth and would blame her behavior on teething, it'd be a month or two until the tooth came.

That being said, I've heard of a number of babies who had their first teeth by 4-5 months.  Good luck on the plane!

  • DS hasn't gotten any  teeth yet, but around 14 weeks I was sure he was going to pop a tooth soon, as he was incredibly fussy and seemed uncomfortable. I gave him Tylenol, which helped him a lot.
