Signs to switch to faster nipple speed?

Hi ladies - for those who have switched the nipple speed from slow to fast, how did you know when to switch?  My DS is 4 months now and we've tried the 3-6 month nipple (labled as "fast") and all we get is him spitting out most of the breastmilk and a super wet bib.  We've since switched back but sometimes it seems like he gets agitated from working too hard to get the breastmilk.  What are your experiences?  TIA!

We had that happen at first too. I think he got more on himself than in his mouth. We are on level 2 nipples (Born Free) and I think they are medium flow not fast. I would say try it again and start with one or two bottles a day. Keegan got the hang of it after a while and now we don't have any problems. Like anything it takes a little practice. Good luck!
