Re: baby's first solids...

  • We started w/ homemade green bean purees--we skipped rice cereal/oatmeal cereal all together and just started green beans this week. I've always heard to start w/ green veggies b/c if you start w/ sweet things it may take them a while to warm up to green veggies...granted I think this is probably just another one of the old wives tales kind of things...but who knows, we had green beans for dinner so thats what DS started w/ :-) We will probably try maybe carrots next or peas...dunno

  • The stage 1's sold in jars are:

    peas

    green beans

    carrots

    sweet potatoes

    squash

    apples

    pears

    peaches

    bananas

prunes - if your LO has constipation issues

I started both of mine with a fruit, then alternated a veggie, a fruit, a veggie, a fruit, etc. I never had a problem getting them to eat greens. In fact my DD likes green beans over any of the fruits.

  • Avacado and banana is what we did with Brady...no cooking required!  We plan to do the same with Luke.
  • Our pedi recommended orange veggies first so we've done sweet potatoes and carrots.  I just made some butternut squash today to try on Tuesday.  The pedi also recommended once a day at night.  We give him his veggies at about 630 pm.
