I swaddled each of my boys (until it was no longer safe to do so), and recently learned that improper swaddling of a baby's legs can cause a condition called hip dysplasia. Thankfully it didn't for either of my boys, but it got me thinking, and worried about the next one. Has anyone else heard of this condition? We were using Halo Sleepsack Swaddles, which are fairly loose around the hips because of the open sleepsack part and I've since learned are considered ?hip healthy?. Here's a couple of links I found if you are interested. Definitely make sure that your pediatrician checks your LO's hips!

Re: Improper Swaddling Can Cause Hip Condition
Wow. I had no idea.
DD loves being burrito'd up tight. She sleeps so soundly during naps. At night we're just using the Halo sleep sacks since she is a roller now.
is this supposed to be for swaddling for a long period of time (ie: all night)
(i only swaddle monster to get him to be able to fall asleep - once he's asleep and in his crib i unswaddle him, and i only swaddle his arms. just curious)
