Babies: 3 - 6 Months

I often wonder.... name related.

I wonder if people just say they like my son's name Eldin Brewer R. or if they think I was off my rocker giving him that name. Does anyone else wonder this? I never criticize anyone's name but I think some of my family's Lo's names are SO strange. Akiya, Kaydance, Frank, Zaidyn, and Brayden, just to name a few.

Re: I often wonder.... name related.

  • I know what you mean, I thought twice about the name Jack, which is my LO's name. I doubted the name because both grandparents hated the name, and co-workers also commented on how they didn't like it, but now that I see his he is totally a Jack, his name suits him well and besides he's my kid and my DH and I love the name and that's all that counts. I could care less what other people think.

  • btw, I love the name Eldin....Great name!
  • I really like the name Cadence, but Kaydance seems silly to me.  I don't get the crazy spellings.

Thanks! DH actually thought about Jack for a while but then one of our friends had a baby and named him Jack so it was eliminated for us, lol

  • People never hear my sons name correctly (Mason).  They often think I say Nathan.  And when they do hear it most people act like its very weird/unique which I find strange because it seems so popular right now- must not be popular in my area or something.

  • I'm not saying I love it or hate it - it's very different. I'm sure people feel similarly, but regardless, his name is his and I'm sure it fits him. Names usually grow on their owners. I wouldn't worry at all. I think it's hysterical that you think Frank is a strange name. I have like 10 in my family and grew up with so many others, hahahah.
  • Sophia is a popular name, but her middle name is Isolde and a lot of people have never heard it before. They ask me to repeat it twice and then just say something about it being "nice" or "pretty." So, yeah I bet they don't like it. but I really don't care. I like the name and it is even an in an old epic/legend so people are just showing a lack of education :P

DD's name is Sophia also. Her middle name is Correa and people do the same exact thing when they ask what her middle name is. I always have to repeat it...I expect it though, it's not common at all

  • i like unique names, i had some really unique ones on my list and the whole time i was pregnant everyone was like it's gonna be something really weird, i just know you guys...

    lol.

    we named him andrew michael.

    so normal, but it fits...

  • I get a lot of "Oh"s when I say Desmond. I think that if you're going to ask what a baby's name is, you need to have a non-judgmental response ready like, "Well hi there, Desmond, I'm X". It's not like we run around saying "Guess what LO's name is!"

  • I have to repeat Brynn alot! People ask "Bren?" "Brian?" "Brianne?" Um no, its BRYNN . They dont seem to have a problem with her middle name "Averie" though. I get "Oh thats pretty" alot. Sometimes I do wonder if people think what I have been told on this board while choosing her name before . That its too "unique" Although I disagree.

  • I'm not a fan of trendy, unique or unusual spelled names. And if a name wasn't in existence 10 years ago, its not a real name to me.

I too find it funny that you think Frank is a weird name. It is a lot more basic than most of the boy's names people have been coming up with lately.

I wonder that too! People are very adamant that they think her name is soooo cute. Her name is Charleigh (pronounced Charlie), and people always say Char-lay? I say no like the boys name, and then they get all "no i think it's really cute, very unique." It makes me think they hate it and don't want me to know, like I really care...

  • I don't really let it bother me.. But I always have to repeat his name and people will be so blunt and either ask "did you make that up?" or "oh, isnt that a girl's name?" I want to throat punch rude ass people. Also, my entire family pretty much thinks I'm nuts bc DS's middle name is J-- just J. They just looked at me confused and didn't comment..

  • I always wonder the same thing. We always have to repeat her name to people. It doesnt bother me if people dont like it and luckily I havent gotten a negative response yet..... except for my mother in law. But she doesnt count for anything...
