How much Fenugreek should I take?

To help my supply? The bottle says 1-2 capsules daily but I think I remember hearing you can rake more if you are trying to help your milk supply...TIA!

  • I take 8 per day. I read somewhere (kellymom?) that you need that many per day to effect supply. GL!

  • I took 9 per day. My SIL is a LC and recommended blessed thistle as well. The combination did wonders for my supply. The blessed thistle also helps to counteract the gas that fenugreek can cause.
  • In addition- It says to consult your doctor 1st.  Anyone call their dr about it before taking or did you just jump in?

  • I called my doc about it just to be sure and they said it was fine. I think doseage also depends on how many mg are in one capsule, sometimes that can range depending on where you purchase them. Heres some more info that may help

  • How much you should take depends on mgs are in the capsules you are taking (provided you are taking capsule form). You want at minimum 3500 mg's per day. That is the minimum dose that is effective for increasing milk supply. If that doesn't help you can increase up to (I believe) 7500 mg's per day. Someone just asked this question in my last breastfeeding group and that's what the LC said.
