Did I Buy the Right Book?

I've been feeling that all the pregnancy books I've been reading don't pertain to me because they are all written for the mothers of singletons.  Yesterday when I went to get Baby Bargains I saw Twins: Pregnancy, Birth and the First Year of Life by Agnew, Klein, and Ganon.  Was this a good choice?  Any other suggestions?

  • I don't think I've heard of that one. A lot of us recommend Dr. Luke's When You're Expecting Twins, Triplets or Quads. Very helpful.

Thanks. I didn't see that one at our local B&N, but I'll check Amazon.

  • I agree if you're looking for a twin pregnancy book then Dr. Luke's book is great. Take all of the information though and apply it to you - not many people follow her plan word for word but there are lots of good general rules you can follow.
  • I'm not familiar with the book you purchased either. Definitely check out Barbara Luke's book. Don't freak out about her calorie and diet recommendations....they're a bit much for everyone.

Other books I found really useful are: "Mothering Multiples" if you plan to BF, "Baby 411" for quick reference baby care and "Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Twins" or "Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child" by Weisbluth. Oh...and watch the video Happiest Baby on the Block sometime before the babies arrive. Your local library probably has it...its a miracle worker for crying newborns!

  • Ditto Sunnybrook's other suggestions! :) I haven't read Baby 411 but the others were all VERY helpful for us, too, once the babies arrived!

  • I have the one you bought along with several others and it's definitely my favorite but I wouldn't just have it as a stand alone guide. It's very informative and I've found it very helpful. I don't have Dr. Luke's book and I've survived so far ; )

There are a bunch of twin books out there but most are written by a mom who has been pregnant once and it just happened to be twins and now they think they are the authority on the subject. It's good to get a book that's co-authored by an MD and a MoM. I think it makes it a little more well rounded.

Mom to six awesome kids - Levi is 12, Landen is 8, Gabrielle is 6, Lucas is 3, and Oliver and Samuel are 2 years old. Love my crew. Baby Birthday Ticker TickerBaby Birthday Ticker Ticker

The salesman who sold us our car last week swears by this video. He says it helped them get their 4 month old daughter on a schedule and she sleeps like an angel.  I will definitely check that one out.  Thanks everyone for all their recommendations.  Looks like this MoM to be has a lot of reading to do!Geeked

  • I read Happiest Baby on the Block bc it was suggested to be my all the moms I know.  The methods he suggest make a lot of sense to me, and I decided to buy into it, and that will be our "plan" if we have a colicky baby(ies).  As for twin books, I just got Ready or Not Here We Come. I haven't read much of it yet, but I'm wishing I got it sooner. I really like the way it is written. It reminds me a lot of Girlfriend's Guide to Pregnancy (if you read that.).  I also read Twin Set and Twin Sense.  Both of those had a lot of useful information and tips on how to plan for you twins, and what to expect when they arrive.
