I know this isn't a horrible problem, but what would you do......
I've used various ladies for having cakes made over the past few years. I thought I found a great one for Ben's birthday in April. Then a couple weeks later she announced she was closing up shop and moving OOT.
For the twins' party I procrastinated totally and finally got a rec from that great cake baker about a week ago for this new lady. We talked all details over the weekend and I emailed them to her today. and ask for a quote.
it's about 30-40% more than I was expecting...and I thought I had good expectations due to the various people I've used before.
The party is next weekend. Do I suck it up and just pay it? I don't know what to do....it's a lot more than I expected, but it still is a party for 2 kids at once, and definitely cheaper than what I would pay if they were separate.
ugh. I guess I'll have to just suck it up, right?
Re: oh,eff. WWYD
Ditto. How much is it?
It's two 6" single layer smash cakes with Thing 1/Thing 2 on top. Also, 4 doz. cupcakes, just a swirl of icing on top, no decoration.
I was expecting $60-75, it is $100. I think I can safely drop it to 3 doz cupcakes....which would be $80. Then add a couple plate of cookies and maybe another dessert.
My H is a cake snob. I hate the store-bought with whipped icing, so I kinda am too....but he wants the best in terms of talent in the decorating (no fondant).
I think that's a lot.
If it saves you from stressing though, the extra $20-30 is worth it.
A friend of the family wanted to charge me $60 for 2 doz cupcakes and a smash cake.
So here I sit on the night before the party making them myself. I just couldn't drop that much on desserts!
