Went to the OB's office to fill out paperwork and such.
I will be seeing a midwife this time around, and I made my first appt. with her today! I'll be going in on 9/27 for an ultrasound and then on 9/30 to see the midwife.
I'm so excited for the ultrasound, 4 weeks seems like forever!!
They estimated my due date around 5/6, so I was one day off, that could still change, so I'm not changing my ticker!
Re: Made my first appt. this morning!
I wasn't completely sure about it the first time around, but after having one child and knowing what my experience was like with a doctor it was an easy choice for me!
I felt like the Dr. had better things to do the whole time I was in labor, it just wasn't at all what I expected. The nurses did all the work and the doctor came in periodically to check on me and make me feel anxious!
I would have went with a midwife the first time around if I had known the doctors at the practice, but I didn't. Now that I know the doctors, I feel completely comfortable seeing a midwife, and if a doctor is needed for delivery I already feel comfortable with them!
Good luck making your decision, it's not an easy one!
Thank you so much for the insight! It's nice to get opinions, esp from women who have already been through this at least once before. I have heard the same thing from friends as well, that they felt the same way with regards to their Dr. just being stretched too thin and not feeling like a priority. I think this is was makes me most anxious, esp considering this is our first and I don't really know what to expect. Thanks again for the info!
I made my first appointment too, for 9/27 - and it does feel like it's so long away!!
When the receptionist asked me if I wanted to see a doctor or a midwife, I told her I had no idea what the difference was..She flat out, honestly said, well, the midwives seem to spend more time with you, going over everything you need to know, etc..But if there is any problem, then they would easily switch me over to a Dr's care..So I went with the midwife
This is my first pregnancy, so I too hope I made the right choice..
