What do you do for a living? Hopefully you do something that makes people laugh and smile because that's what I do every time I read one of your responses. I can practically hear your voice as I read your comments. I need to start a ColindaP dictionary of great lines.

Aww, thanks. Actually, I'm a Spanish<>English court interpreter, so nary an original sentence comes from my mouth at work.

Do you have a blog? I'm thinking you'd be widely followed. I really do think you have a natural talent for writing, that is beyond the translation piece. Hey, but wait you can sort of make stuff up as you interpret, can't you? I always think about how things in French don't make sense in English.

I do have a blog, it's linked in my siggy. It's a strange mish-mash of TTC/miscarriage/IF venting and nutrition.

And no, as a legal interpreter, I cannot make stuff up. Conference interpreters, diplomatic interpreters, etc, are allowed to. Even medical interpreters are allowed more leeway than we are to smooth over the communication. There are many, many things that just don't translate well, so it's constant linguistic gymnastics. And I love it. And bonus- that kind of brain activity staves off dementia and Alzheimer's!
