Reading material regarding Pregnancy

What is everyone reading?  Right now I'm following along in What To Expect When You're Expecting and almost done with a book my doctors office game me.  It's something like Your Pregnancy and Birth.  I haven't gotten into any magazines or anything else because I think it might be a little overwhelming right now.

  • You having a baby - Dr. Oz (talks a lot about genetics)

Belly Laughs- Jenny McCarthy (super easy, cute read)

  • Girlfriend's Guide to Pregnancy- Absolutely hilarious, had me peeing myself. It's all truth, too!! That's why it's so funny.

The Bradley Method- Even if you're going to have a scheduled c/s, this would be helpful if you happened to go into labor before the c/s. I'm going to start reading a book on Hypnobirthing when I hit 27wks.

I got the Dr. Oz on CDs and listened to it in the car.  It was interesting on some things but I didn't care for it too much.

  • Girlfriend's guide to pregnancy. OMG, I laughed so hard reading that book and everything they say in the book is totally true! I highly recommend that!

  • I really like the Mayo Clinic Guide to a Healthy Pregnancy...have found it helpful (and not too alarmist) for both pregnancies.

  • The ACOG book my dr.'s office gave me (sounds the same as yours) but mostly as a reference, not really cover to cover.  I also have a Pregnancy Journal.

I'm trying not to get drawn into it all too much (i.e. all the crap to buy or all the "right" way to do things, or worry about things), I just talk some to women I know and women here for some info, and ask my doctor if I really want the authoritative answer.  A good friend recommended "From the Hips," as being really balanced so I might check that out.

I love the Dr. Oz book- but it definitely reads more like a text book than a typical pregnancy book which may turn off a lot of readers.

  • I forgot to add "Childproofing your dog" I have 2 large breed dogs and this book is helping to get them ready.
