TTC After a Loss

Yet another blood draw today.

It's bad when the receptionist and billing clerk recognize you because you are there so often :( My hCG was 481 on Monday, I'm really hoping it's gone down a LOT since then so I can stop going in for these appointments.. it kills me seeing all of the happy, pregnant mamas.. and the $40/visit copay is starting to add up!

Re: Yet another blood draw today.

  • So sorry! If it hasn't gone down very much can you request a week or two off from the blood draws? Give your veins, sanity, and bank account a little break?

  • Fingers crossed that your numbers are nice and low.  If not, I would definitely try and take a week or two off like pp said.  Good luck!

  • You get charged for an office visit just for a blood draw? That's nuts - I've never been charged. If you're not seeing a doctor, I don't see why they should make you pay the copay. I'm sorry you're having to deal with this.

  • Hugs, I am so sorry that you are having to deal with this.
  • Yuck - I hope that your levels are good and low and you don't have to go back. I know when I had to go for bloodwork every few days at my RE's office it was so annoying/painful to see all the happy pregnant bellies :(

    Hugs.

  • I am sorry hopefully your numbers drop to a zero. When I was having my blood draws my numbers were high doctor had me scdelule an appointment 2 weeks out and when I went back my numbers were 0. If your numbers do not drop I would ask for an appointment that is out a couple weeks.

  • I've never been charged for b/w. If you are being charged $40 each time, I would ask for a week off, like PP said. Here's hoping for super low numbers for you!

Be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
  • The nurse that called with my last set of lab results mentioned something about a lab slip and going directly to the lab for it - I think when they call with these results that is what I'm going to do.

Good idea on taking a week off too - I've been going every other day because my levels weren't dropping and they were concerned, but now that it's going down, hopefully they'll be okay with that.

  • Oh gosh... I'm sorry you're going through this. it sounds like from your most recent update that you get to take a break soon. I hope things go down at the rate you want them to. I still have very little understanding of how this testing works. I was told to come back if I don't get a negative pregnancy test in 3 months. It scares me to wait that long, since I read about so many women here who were tested. Anyway, I really hope it gets better soon for you.

  • Yuck I'm sorry you've had to have so many blood draws. :-(  I'm with the other ladies... maybe you could ask to come back in a few weeks instead of every week?  I hope your betas start dropping quickly!

They're doing mine repeatedly because it wasn't going down consistently, it went down, then back up, then leveled off.. it just started going down again.

  • Hope it's down a lot.  It took me over 9 weeks for my hcg to get to 0.  By the end, they only had me going every 2-3 weeks because it was killing my veins.  Hope yours is down a lot today!
