registry

Hi girls! How is everyone?

I have a question about registries --- DH and I went yesterday to BRU and I realized I have no idea what I'm doing. What are some of your must have items? Did you register for wipes, diapers, bath items etcetc? How many bottles and pacifiers did you add? Always thought I'd know exactly what I needed. Hahahaha... I'm lost :x

Re: registry

  • When we went to BRU to register, they gave us a little book that had a list of common registry items and how many to register for. Of course there were things on the list that I decided against registering for (diaper genie, wipe warmer). Some momma's swear by those things, but for me they weren't a necessity.

Registering can be very overwhelming. (I think I cried in the middle of an aisle because I had no clue about bottles LOL!) We went to lunch and then came back. My advice...don't expect to get it all finished in one visit. You can add (or remove) things from your registry online, too. Good luck!!

  • ty! im sitting and going through everything at work right now. haha they gave us a list but it didnt have how many items we should add. thats the part that confused me the most!

  • Hey Tess! We registered last weekend and yes it was overwhelming. I mainly registered for stuff I would use in the first year. I printed the registry suggestion list from thebump as well as the one from the store (we did Buybuybaby) and sort of used that as a guide. At the end of the day you really just need to get what you feel is a necessity like PP said. Feel free to check out my registry for ideas (it's under my maiden name).
  • I know it could be so overwhelming but like the other ladies said, take it a step at a time. I would use the list they give you and pick the things you would need or think you would need in the 1st year. In terms of bottles/nipples, I would choose one brand to go with and buy just a starter kit for now, you won't know if that bottle will settle well with baby till after they are born. I did register for wipes, diapers (different sizes) as well although most of our guests chose to buy other things first.  Good luck!!

  • I went the first time with DH, and was completely overwhelmed!  We ended up going back with one of my girlfriend's who had two kids, and it was much easier the second time around.  Honestly though, be prepared to go back to the store often the first few weeks after your LO is born!

  • It's very overwhelming.  I went by the BBB checklist and selected from there the items that I thought would be the most important and mostly added what I would need in the first 6 months.  For example, there's a whole section on baby proofing - you don't need that right away so I wouldn't add that.  The only things I added that you would need later on are the convertible car seat and the toddler feeding set.  Also, I completed most of my registry online and just went to the store a few times to check things out in person.  The store can be overwhelming b/c you just want to scan everything!   And, Amazon is a great place to check for reviews.
