Lipstick expires?

Weird.  I was just fidgeting when I was talking to someone and I peeled off the label on my lipstick tube.  It has a date stamp on the bottom of 08/10.  I've had it forever and very rarely use it.  It doesn't seem bad so I'll continue to use it, but I had no idea it expired...

Re: Lipstick expires?

  • I think in general, it's two years. Lasts longer if you put it in the fridge. Obviously, if it smells funky, throw it out.

I think all types of make up expire.

  • I think most makeup expires, but I for one don't use it fast enough.  The only thing I wont use longer than the expiry date is mascara and eye shadow.  Pretty much all I use any way.

  • All make up expires.  Most cosmetics have about a 3 year shelf life.  Ones with SPF in them typically have a 2 year or less shelf life.  Ones that you use on the eyes or mouth should be replaced at least every 4-6 months (after first use) as bacteria can build up in those.
