...for us all.
I've been letting the kids stay up late (Iafter 9 - even the 2 year old - her naps are getting later in prep for dropping them entirely and she's raring to go any earlier) and get up late this summer (like after 8am). It works for me - I've been getting up before them and having my alone time in the morning, more or less. I do work 2-3 days a week, but I don't have a set time I have to be there, so I've been getting there after 9.
He can be at school at 8:25. At least next week is the graduated start for K (which is annoying in its own right) and I don't think he has to be there until 9.
It's my own fault. I think I'm going to start moving bedtime back bit by bit this weekend. It's going to be tought because DD won't necessarily be ready and he's going to hate going to bed before her.
Re: Waking up for school is going to be a rude awakening...
I'm dreading this too. We've been trying to wrench bedtime back to 8:30ish this week to prepare. I was just talking it over with my kids last night. I'm going back to teaching myself, and the kids will be watched by my next door neighbor for before/after school. So instead of needing to be ready by 8 am, they're now going to have to be at the babysitter's well before the school day starts.
DD used to get up at 6:35 to take a shower before school. Now that's the time when we'll have to be over at our neighbor's house. She's used to having an hour in the morning to get ready. Well, all that's going to change. At least she's an early riser and is usually up with the birds anyway.
DS has never had to get up to an alarm clock, and is used to sleeping until sometime in the 7 o'clock hour. But... that's part of the adjustment of being in kindergarten, I guess! I'm thinking he's going to be exhausted and CRANKY by the end of next week!
