Brazilian waxing? To do or not to do?

Have any of you ladies had this done? I am going home to Colorado in October and I am considering getting it done. I am going to make my mom and sister go along for the ride as well if I decide to do it. I thought it would be a fun experience to share. :) What are your experiences if you have any and is it worth it?

Re: Brazilian waxing? To do or not to do?

  • I have a friend who did it and she decided half way through she would never do it again. She doesn't mind a regular one but will never do a Brazilian again.

  • Hehe "fun experience to share"  Yes

I have not had it done, but I've thought of it.  Not necessarily the Brazilian version, but I have thought of just getting a bikini wax.

I was very seriously thinking about it when I was KU---I just don't think I could get DH to help me out if/when I get so big that I can't do it myself.

  • I have gone once a month for the last 5 years or so. I love it. Doesn't hurt that bad and totally worth it. DH absolutely loves it. You have to find a good waxer though, some aren't good and it can hurt more/leave hair behind.

    Good luck!

  • Been there, done that. I'm not sure how well you tolerate pain, but it wasn't too bad for me... I'm pretty tough though! Wink For me, the worst part was getting over the awkwardness of having a stranger all up in my business and then when the hair starts to grow back - yuck. One piece of advice, find a good salon, do not go to some random place.

Oh, and when you say it might be fun to "share this experience", you might not want to "share" the actually experience and just go in the room alone... Share the car ride and the stories about the awkwardness, but leave it at that - Just sayin'.

  • I agree it might be fun with the right mother daughter sister combo, but for me personally no freking way would I do it....ouchey!!

  • I got it done before my wedding and I don't think I will ever do it again. It was very painful for me (my skin is kind of sensitive). I also don't like how you have to let it grow long before you can get it done lol

  • No, I haven't done it, and probably won't. My skin is super sensitive anyway. If I wax my eyebrowns, my skin breaks out on/around the area. Not cool. I also don't like pain.

Um, "making" your Mom and Sister? I don't think that would be a fun experience to share. Just ask them to go get ice cream with you. That's good bonding time. Wink

  • I have had it done and love it! If you are afraid of the pain I would suggest taking an extra strength tyl. 30-45 minutes before you so and it will take the edge off. When they do "the back" you really dont feel it. The girl I went to that was all she did so she really knew how to do it.

I asked the girl there why the difference in sensation and she stated that if you shave, wax it changes the follicle.

ps - the more you do it, the longer it lasts and less it hurts.

  • I did it about a month ago for the first time.  It wasn't too bad, but I didn't opt for the back.  I was also doped up on drugs since I had my wisdom teeth out 2 days prior.  My hair was not long enough though, so some places grew back faster than others.  I might try it again, but the gf I took with me said she would never do it again.  She said she turned out looking like a leather mask (I wonder what is wrong with her couchie?).  Good luck, let us know if you do it!  lol

  • I really want to do it too but I had a "test run" before my wedding and it went HORRIBLY wrong.  She did two strips on each side (kinda like a bikini) and that night my lady bits BLEW UP and I was so swollen and red all the way up to my stomach and down my thighs that I could barely walk and wear pants. I am really sensitive to wax products but she assured me that it  was "all natural"    Thank god I tried it a month before my wedding so I was all healed by then but could you imagine if I did it that week.  It still brings me nightmares.

Rawr, i've never wondered what someone's vajayjay looks like...until now. LEATHER MASK? I can't even imagine what a leather mask vaj looks like? :/

  • Thank you for all the stories :) I think I am going to have to go get one. My Mom and sister are all for it. They have never had one either so we figured we could all lose our brazilian waxing virginity together. It should be an interesting experience. My mom is already asking around for info on the best place to get it done. She works with some women. I have a pretty high pain tolerance so it should be ok. I'll never know if I don't try it :)
