Kirkland Formula? Anyone use it?

I was at Costco and saw that their formula is almost $10 cheaper than Similac! I compared the labels and they are almost identical. It just seems wrong to me to be cheap about DD's formula. I already feel guilty about not being able to breastfeed. But $$ is tight, and that is a huge difference in price! Anyone use it? I plan on asking the pedi at our next apt.

Re: Kirkland Formula? Anyone use it?

  • I use Target brand Enfamil Gentlease which is about $10 cheaper than Enfamil. I compared ingredients, they are almost exactly the same minus .02g of some nutrient I can't even remember which one it was.

  • I use the walmart brand of enfamil premium. I was talking to the nurse at the drs office and she said that it was fine. They all have the same ingredients

  • Because they're FDA approved, they all have to meet standards so the main ingredients will always be the same.  Just be careful...the fillers can be different and while they aren't harmful, some babies' stomachs don't like the change.  I've heard scary stories of constipation/diarrhea :-p

  • I am thinking abour switching to Kirkland as well.  I have read that it is comparable to Enfamil, which is what I give DD.

  • We were worried about a belly ache but our daughter had never really spit up or anything so we figured we would try and if we had any problems we would switch back. We have used the walmart brand since birth pretty much. I think we used two cans of enfamil and then tried.
  • My friend was using Good Start for her daughter but it was giving her constipation problems, so she switched to Kirkland. It cleared up that problem right away.
  • We use kirklands! He actually takes it better than enfamil and he had no negative reaction.

  • We use it! We were using Enfamil, but the price for a 41oz can of Enfamil powder was about $34 at Costco (about $0.82 per ounce), whereas a 36oz can of Kirklands powder was $17 (about $0.47 per ounce)! I bought a can and gave it a shot since the pedi said they are all the same and Corri took it with no problems, so we have officially switched.

As long as your LO feels fine from the cheaper brand and continues to take bottles without issue, switch and save yourself the money!
