Well I got the call from my doctor today and I failed my 1 hour glucose screen. I had 135 and that is apparantly the minimum to require a 3 hour screen. I am going Tuesday. I really hope I don't have GD. I am really not looking forward to the no eating/drinking after midnight until the test is over. I see a drive-thru for lunch on Tuesday in my future.
Anyone have to do the 3 hour?
What were your 1 hour results?
Did you pass the 3 hour?
If not, what did you have to do for GD?
Re: Failed My 1 Hour - Onto the 3 Hour Glucose Screen
My nurse said that I would probably pass the 3 hour. I just am not looking forward to the 3 hour and not eating/drinking (even water) for 12 hours.
I failed the one hour with a 137 - my doc requires a 135. I failed the 3 hour - my fasting was 85, my first hour was 187, my second hour was 187, and then my third hour was 115. So hello GD.
It's actually not that bad - it's like weight watchers. Everyone is different as to how their body processes food, so after I met with the nutritionist and the dietician, I figured out when I can eat fruits, processed carbs, etc. For instance - I can eat bread with lunch or dinner, but I could not eat toast with eggs or anything like that for breakfast until about 4 weeks later. My body had to reset itself. Focus on drinking a lot of water, that will help keep your levels consistent as well. I was told having a crystal light was ok - so I have one packet a day in my big ol' Nalgene bottle (32 oz). After 3 bottles of water that size, you need something with flavor! Mine is controlled by diet and exercise alone and my doc has me go for fasting blood draws every Saturday morning (10 to 12 hour fasts). I've been pretty lucky.
On a side note - I've gained a total of 30 lbs. My doc has commented to me that I've also kept my body from having to retrain itself after the baby, so hopefully I'll be able to lose the weight fast!
I failed my 1 hour by OVER 50pts- *but my dr really thinks the lab screwed up my 1hr. Because i had low blood sugar with #1- and all of the indictors pointed to LBS this time.
That being said- I passed all three of the 3hr indicators.
Totally DO NOT do a drive thru after your test- you are going to be WHEELING from all the sugar anyway- pack a healthy snack - particularly PROTEIN to eat right after the last blood draw.
I failed my 1 hour with a 138 and my dr requires it under 130. I had my 3 hr and one of my levels were elevated so I am on a modified diet (similar or just about what you have to do for GD to PREVENT getting GD later on.
I have to go every 2 weeks for blood draws..... A fasting level and then I eat and they take more blood after I start eating.
I'll also be getting a growth u/s at 37 weeks. LO measured 3lbs 4 oz at my 27 week u/s but I've only gained 14 lbs.
I failed my 1st test.. I came in at 160
They just made me go back last Friday for the 3 hour test. Wasn't as bad as I had been reading about however for some reason within 10 minutes of drinking the drink I got so tired. I was fighting NOT to fall asleep. I couldn't keep my eyes open. Other than all the poking, the test wasn't bad at all. I have been crossing my fingers waiting for the results.
Failed #1 with a 142. Not a huge fail. Failed the 3 hour by much bigger margins, which surprised me.
Got sent to a clinic and now have to eat according to a plan and test 4x a day. I blog about it. Here's a link to the first entry if you are interested. It gives info on what I deal with.

Good luck--hope you pass the 3 hr!
Failed 1 hr with a 141. Then failed the 3 hour by a little bit too.
I am just on the GD diet and everything seems to be going well. I have had great numbers so far. I have to poke myself 4 times a day. Will have a growth ultrasound at 34 weeks... although at my 28 week ultrasound baby was measuring in the 30th percentile so I am not too worried.
Anyone have to do the 3 hour? I did mine today.
What were your 1 hour results? 185 (I may be off just a tad, but that's about right)
Did you pass the 3 hour? Yep, they told me I was fine, and not to change anything.
If not, what did you have to do for GD?
