A friend of mine is about to start IVF #4 and her doc is putting her on the MDL protocol. She has egg quality issues and is a poor responder and her RE thinks this will help. Anyone have any MDL stories to share? Did it work for you? If not, what ended up working for you?
Thanks!

Re: MDL protocol, anyone?
Thanks, Kim.
I'm the friend.
After 2 rounds of IVF & 2 rounds of FET, we were blessed with identical twin girls!
I meant to say that I am almost positive she did that
FET #1 = BFP on 5/2011
Thanks! So glad to hear it worked well for you!
I did. Details in my blog--posted in July-Aug. 2009. GL!!
Gretchen did MDL for her successful IVF, as did I. My first IVF was converted to IUI because of poor response. We went to MDL and it was great! They retrieved 16 eggs, 15 of which were mature.
One thing I will say about MDL is that things were VERY slow in the beginning. They only counted 7 AFC, but I ended up with 18 growing follicles once we got further into stimming. I think it was day 6 of stimming before I even got in to double digit # of follies.
Let me know if you have any other questions. I'm happy to help!
Thanks! Good to know that the beginning will be slow. I'll try not to freak out too early.
I did it for my IVF #2. I did respond a lot better (20 eggs vs. 12 on IVF #1 and only 7on IVF#3). My quality was actually the worst of all three cycles though - I only had 10 fertilize (no ICSI on that cycle) and only had one blast and 1 morela to transfer. I'm not sure why it was such a bad cycle for me.
Ironically, Long Lupron was the one that worked for me, even with my crappy eggs. We did add in a whole bunch of other stuff that cycle (like Metformin, new diet, accupuncture, dexamethasone) so who knows what ended up giving me my lucky egg.
Best of luck to you - I know MDL has worked for many ladies, so I hope it is the right combination for you!
I did MDL for #'s 2 and 3 and I'm sorry to say they were very poor cycles for me. A mistake was made with #2 and I was given full concentration lupron instead of diluted lupron, which I took for a week. We were never sure whether or not our nurse or the pharmacy screwed up. In the end, I did have 4 follicles, but, we decided to convert to IUI. When we did this cycle again for IVF #3, after a week of stimming, I had 2 follicles and my E2 began to drop and the cycle was cancelled outright. This was after 3 months of accupuncture, which completely screwed up my body, so, that may have been a contributing factor to it not working.
So, in all fairness, I can't say that it was the protocol that was bad for me. Additionally, after doing several other protocols that are very successful for people like me (i.e., EPP, which was my worst response of all of them), I had to turn to DE, so, again, it's not necessarily fair to judge the protocol when, in reality, likely no protocol was going to help me. But, I just wanted to share my experiences.
Besxt of luck!!!
