Chicco vs. Peg Perego-Help!

Hi there, I have a Graco Snugride and hate it. The levers constantly squeak and lock up on me, and the canopy drives me nuts.

Thinking about going for a CHICCO or PEG PEREGO. Which one do you like, and why?  Any suggestions are appreciated!

  • Your baby is two months old.  If you are going to buy a new car seat why don't you just go and buy a convertible car seat?

As for the levers on the Graco, what levers are you talking about?  The handle?

Because we have a Uppababy stroller and like to use the carseat in the stroller. LO is on the small side too.

As for the Graco, yes the handle.

    Thanks!

  • Your baby is adorable!  And I have the same question...I am planning on registering for the chicco or peg, just not sure which one yet!

Makes sense then.  My LO was on the smaller side...she still is at 20 lbs!!!  The Peg is a lot heavier and more expensive than the Chicco.  I would go with the Chicco.

As for the handle on the Graco, it is supposed to lock in three different positions, so if you are not pinching the red lever, it will keep locking up.  As far as I know, all infant car seats do this.

  • The Peg is fine, but the Chicco is awesome. It is simply put a very well designed car seat. Everything it does, it does very well. Plus, it's cheaper and lighter. And it doesn't have the annoying puzzle buckle the Peg has. I've used a Chicco for 2 babies and will be using it for my 3rd. It is hands down my favorite car seat, even over all of the convertibles I've used.

  • I agree with just buying a convertible at this point...we LOVE our britax.  BUT if you are going to get another infant seat...I wouldn't get the Peg, i hated it!  The buckle was almost impossible to work.  AWFUL!
  • i had second thoughts about the snugride but I am sticking it out.  I might strongly consider the chicco if I had to do it all over again for the quality but I love the light weight of the snugride

  • We are going with the Peg. I've used one when I was a nanny and loved it. Yes, it is heavier than others but they are very well made. I love side protection too. I considered the Chicco but DH thought it looked cheesy. Price doesn't matter when it comes to safety.

No it doesn't. But the Peg isn't any safer than the Chicco. It just costs more and isn't as easy to use.

  • I haven't used mine yet, but FWIW, the Chicco was # 1 rated on consumer reports.
