Breaking in Bumkins VS. Gerber pre-folds

Most of my diapers are the heavier duty bumkins pre-folds that you have to wash like 6 times to break them in before use.....but I also have some of the gerber pre-folds which are much thinner and lightweight.  Should these diapers also be washed in the same fashion before use? 

 Any tips would be helpful, thank you!

Gerber prefolds are crap and are totally not good for diapers.  They make better cleaning rags or as DH discovered they are great for wrapping ice packs for your back.

yeah....i get the feeling I'd have to use two of them to even come close to the thickness of the other ones....they may end up becoming burp cloths!
