UPDATE to "Wisewoman advice needed"
I called around to the other two midwives who I had originally interviewed. One is booked (and now skeptical about working with a type 1 diabetic), but the other was happy to hear from me! We're switching to her, and I am trying to schedule my first appointment with her for this Wednesday. I will see my current/former MWs on Thursday to fill them in and to figure out the financial stuff. I'm SO relieved and happy. I would have chosen this MW originally if her office were closer to my house, but now I'll figure out the commute stuff - it will all work out 
AND, my former doula is going to attend my birth again! Yay! I really couldn't have a better birth team, and am so thankful that the new MW is able to see me

She's not yours - yours is booked
But, I am working with her to help her understand what it means to care for a Type 1 Diabetic. My new MW's name is Karen.
i thought she was booked!
