Which ones do you like best?

so with only a few weeks to go til our due date, it's time to decide on our baby names!  we have narrowed it down to 4 each for a boy and a girl and i'm just curious what you ladies think.

 for a girl (mn Rae):

Emily, Brinley, Emma or Ellyson

for a boy (mn Brian):

Cole, Matthew, Carter or Luke

I think Brinley sounds unsophisticated and Ellyson looks misspelled.

boy: Matthew or Luke

Cole and Carter are fine, I just like the other names better - they sound more timeless.

Emily - nice, but super popular. It was actually our number one pick for years.
Brinley - don't like it - it looks like a mashup of the popular BRI root and the popular LEY suffix. Both are way popular and not my style
Emma- lovely and timeless thanks to Jane Austen.
Ellyson - Made up...Ellie + Grayson? I don't like it at all, especially with the Y.

Overall I like Emma, but Emily with Rae seems to work best.

for a boy (mn Brian):

Cole - I like it (big Charmed fan here)
Matthew - Good solid name that I really like
Carter - meh - not my style, and there are several in my area.
Luke - love this name

Cole and Matthew are nice too. Carter is WAY too preppy for my taste. Emma is too popular/over-done... and the other girl names are way to cutesy/trendy/spelled strangely.

Emily is my favorite for the girl's.

Matthew is my favorite for the boy's because it flows best with Brian.

I like Emma, even though it's popular.  I seriously know so many little Emilys--I can think of 6 under the age of 3 off the top of my head.  If that bothers you at all, I would leave that one out.

I like all the boys' names, but Carter is my favorite out of them.
