first day of 1st grade!

Hi everyone!  I'm usually over on 6-9, but honestly am more of a lurker than poster.  Just wanted to do a quick intro over here.

I have a 6.5 year old DS and a 6 month old DS.  Today was DS1's first day of first grade, and all I can think right now is how quiet the house is!

And I am really glad they finally made a board for parents of school-aged kids.  It will be nice to have others with older kids to talk to!

No, he was in all day kindergarten last year, so it's nothing new, but still, the sound of silence is crazy!  I think tomorrow will be harder on me, b/c it will be his first time riding the school bus.

At least you are used to him being gone all day.  I remember when my youngest started 1st grade, it was the first time that I had the house to myself for the whole day.  It was really weird.

Make sure you take pictures of him getting on that school bus for his scrapbook/photo album.

I have a first grader this year too!  I can't believe she's big enough for all day school.

He's way more excited about getting to ride the bus than he is about school starting! Luckily, my house is the bus stop, otherwise I'd be a lot more worried!

One good thing about this year, the little girl next door is in his class, and is also in his "group" that they work with.  So any time they have projects and stuff, his partner lives next door. Should work out great!

 Our DSs are the same ages, give or take a few months. My 6 year old doesnt start till the 7th though.

My son started 1st grade today as well. It has been a loooong day! Getting up at 6:20am sucks.
