Headaches - what can I do

My first trimester was very lucky - almost no MS.  But now, I've been getting headaches every couple of days.  I'm trying to avoid taking too much tylenol, but even when I do break down and take one, I might as well take a tic tac for all the good it does.  Anyone have good ideas for how to ease a headache.  There are just so many sick days for work and I'm getting tired of having pain all day.  Thanks!

  • i had a few bouts during the first tri and sleep was the best remedy for me- keep a glass of water close by, too- lots of fluids always helps.  feel better soon!!

  • You might be dehydrated.  Drink extra water each day, to see if that helps keep them at bay.  Otherwise, computer screens, tv, ect only make mine worse- so try to skip doing those activities while you have the headache.

  • I've really been struggling with headaches too. Here's some stuff that has helped me

-hot shower and letting the spray hit my forehead and my neck

    -massages

-hot rice pack on my face

-My sinuses have been screwy, so the netti pot has been great

-drinking half a coke with my tylenol

  • My doctor prescribed me something to help with them, but it only seems to help if I take right when I notice one...otherwise I was also told to avoid cheese because it is a migraine trigger. It could just be coincidence but I have to say I really do believe this because I have made it 5 days without a headache until early this morning and I had cheese on my dinner last night. Hope they get better for you!

  • My doctor okayed Excedrin Tension Headache. It's acetaminophen with caffeine, and I've found that the extra caffeine definitely helps kick a bad headache. It's only 65 mg of caffeine per pill, so just don't take more than 2/day.

  • I've been having awful migraines, and my doctor wrote me a prescription. He said to make sure that anything I take for a headache, I take with a Coke or Pepsi Max for the caffeine and it will make it more effective. So far, it's been helping. I hope it gets better for you!

  • I've found that having a Pepsi with my tylenol helps a ton. The caffeine helps the headache, and it's still under my doctors allotted amount of caffeine a day.

  • Drinking water, something with caffeine and taking 2 extra strength tylenol works for me. (If I have a really bad headache I take 2 more tylenol 4 hours after the first dose.) I hate having headaches!!
  • Ditto the caffeine plus tylenol solution.  I've been having them in the morning once or twice a week so for me it's coffee instead of soda, but same idea.
  • A warm bath with an ice pack on my head helps sometimes. More often, sleep is all that cures the pain. I miss ibuprofen.
  • I'm finding that I don't even need the tylenol, a coke or pepsi alone has been getting rid of my almost daily headaches for the past week.

  • When I have a headache I sometimes take a Tylenol and drink a caffeinated drink to stop it.

If it turns into a migraine I usually just sleep it off and use an icepack on my forehead and at the nape of my neck.

  • I just made an appt with OB due to the severe migraines I have been getting- my eye sockets and sinus area hurt as well.  Is anyone else having this kind of pain with the headache?

  • I too was having lots of headaches almost daily and they were debilitating!  I spoke with my doc and she said that it is likely a sign of dehydration...and to be sure to drink plenty of water each day and they should lessen!  Well she was right...I have actually been keeping track to be sure that I am drinking enough and on days when I do not I get a headache and days I do drink enough I do not get one!
