1. how often we'd see her instead of another doc in the practice
2. what happened when she got sick at night
Honestly, I don't get the whole "interviewing the pedi" thing. I can usually tell pretty quickly whether my personality meshes with someone, and I'd find a new doc pretty quickly if I didn't feel like I was being taken seriously, respected as a parent, or if our styles of raising kids were too off base. However, I also don't expect my pedi to be an expert in parenting, so all that really mattered to us what that she was available, good with Kate and seemed to know her medical sh!t.
"Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you've got about a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies. God damn it, you've got to be kind."

Make sure you find out call back times for messages!
Our pediatrician office has nurses who return calls throughout the day. Typically within 20min. (Rather large practice) The first few weeks I called ALL THE TIME. I would go crazy if i had to wait forever to find out an answer to a question.
I enjoy it being a large practice though. We typically see one doctor, but I know that I will be able to get in with SOMEONE around a time that works for me if either kiddo is sick.
Also see if they have weekend hours. Ours does on both Saturdays and Sundays and it is so nice to be able to go over there if a LO is sick. Costs less than urgent care and they know your history.
Yeah...my pics were so old. I got 3 kids. Nuff said.
I always tell people not to worry too much about this. You can always switch if you don't like the doctor. That's what it's more about. Do you feel comfortable with them? Do they support breastfeeding (if you are doing that)? What are their immunization policies (if you have issues with that). Other than those, I'd say it's more about personality and availability than anything. Our original pedi was in one of those huge offices and I thought it would be OK, but we basically never got to talk to her or see her. My son got a little cold at 6 weeks and out of frustration I randomly went over to this new doctor's office by our house that had a banner out front saying they took walk-ins. So I did and ended up loving the pedi on staff there.
Re: Ped. interview questions
I wanted to know:
