I'm looking at the Topeka Birth & Women's Center as well as the Lincoln Center. Does anyone suggest either? Experience with either? I'm favoring the Lincoln Center right now, but want to make sure the Women's Center isn't amazingly better or well known for anything.
Re: Topeka Moms
I had my first child (turns one next week) at the Birth & Women's Center and I will do it there again, and again and as many times as God blesses our family with healthy pregnancies. It is so calm and relaxing, you will have the same nurse and midwife helping you all through labor and delivery (no unknown nurses changing shift mid-labor), and in my opinion it's the best way to bring your child into the world. Baby is met with dim lights in a warm room (remember, they are use to 90-some degrees in-utero) instead of bright lights, cold temps and various loud monitors. I loved that we got to go home right after he was born, 4 hours to be exact, because I'd much rather be at home in my own environment, bed, etc. The laboring tub there is the best ever, neither hospital has a labor tub available and it really helps take the pressuer off during contractions. However, if you feel you need an epidural, you'll have to go to the hospial, as the only pain management available is stadol (a narcotic that will also affect your baby).
Hope this helps!
