I delivered vaginally, and had an episiotomy. I feel like I've healed up really nicely, no pain or itching or swelling anymore, and just light spotting. LO is now 3 weeks old, but I am still unable to totally control my pee. I have started doing more kegel excercises, but is this all I can do? Will I eventually get the ability back or is doing kegels the only way? Anyone have this problem too? TIA
Re: Urinary incontinence, when will it end?
Hate to say, I still am having some issues and my child is 2.5 years.
They say give it a year. After a year, mine was still HORRIBLE. I peed myself all day long. So, I had a sling put in under my urethra (suburethral sling) and it CURED IT! It was a simple outpatient surgery, I couldn't work out for two weeks and then couldn't do lunges/squats for 6 weeks. TOTALLY worth it but do it after you are done having kids.
I had my surgery between kids because mine was so bad it interfered majorly with my life and I couldn't have handled pregnancy incontinence with that. But because of that, I had to have a c/s second time. I likely would have anyway, since the vaginal was so traumatic on my bladder/pelvic area.
