The spelling. I like the name Caitlin, despite its popularity/overuse. I think its lovely. But I really, really can't stand the "Y" spelling variations.

I prefer Caitlin as well. I also prefer Catherine or Kathryn. I'd go with Caitlin, or if you're set on your spellings, Caitlyn.

I adore the nickname Cate. Like you said, it's very classy - which is why Catherine is on my list.

With Katelyn/Catelyn, etc. when I look at it, my initial thoughts are, "Over-used, old-school, '80s, meh", but with Caitlin, its traditional spelling makes it somehow new and beautiful. The older pronunciation is also lovely: Kaht-leen.

Out of the three I prefer Caitlyn BUT I love Caitlin. I think that is the prettiest spelling and it is such a pretty name.

 I like Caitlin Elizabeth and Caitlin Paige.

No need to mess with the original anglicized name - Caitlin is the best/preferred spelling. Everything else looks tryndy or cre8ive.
