I searched around for ideas on the web and the bump. I decided to go with placing a hamburger bun in the oven & asking DH to check on the oven for me.
When DH came home from work I told him that I tried to make dinner but that the oven was making a funny sound & asked him to check on it. He eventually got opened up the oven and he said "Well maybe it's because there's a hamburger bun in the oven" and I started giggling and he said "why is there a hamburger bun in the oven...was it in here earlier?"
He so didn't get it so I handed him a bag with a newborn my first dodgers t-shirt and then he said "No way" My positive test was in the bag too so I showed it to him...It was a faint line so he wasn't convinced at first.
I still crack up thinking about the whole thing...we're still having a good laugh about it.
How did you tell?
Re: How did you tell DH?
haha! This will SO be me when I get my next BFP!!!
DH was out with a friend and came home about an hour after I tested... I took a pink line test and thought, there is no way Matt is going to "get it" So I ran out, in total shock, to walgreens to get a digital! I conjured up some pee and sure enough it popped up "pregnant"! When we first started TTC, I made this cute Florida State bib and burp cloth, so I rolled the digital up in the bib... When DH got home, I came down stairs and told him I had a present for him! He started unrolling and saw the pee stick and was in total shock, as I was, because of our timing! I videoed the whole thing on my blackberry! Love it!
My BFP Chart
I just asked him not to make any big plans for May because we might be a little busy then.
He didn't get it so I shoved the stick in his face...so he high-fived me.
Very cute Idea...I got mine this morning at 4 am. DH was at work.. So I texted him and asked him if he had thought of anymore baby names.. He said no why?? I told him he better start thinking, he only had 36 weeks left to figure it out.. or if this one is like our son then he had 33 weeks left. He was tickled.
Missy
This is almost exactly how it went down. Except I was getting ready to get in the showers so I had no pants on ha ha
Same here! The line was pretty faint on Sunday, so I had him look at it to confirm. He wasn't sure he saw anything. Then when he saw it, he was convinced I was just planting the idea of a line in his head. It was very anticlimactic. I don't think he was truly convinced until I took the digital test last night. Then he got really excited and started shopping for a new camera. Because it's all about the gadgets, of course!
ETA: I was wearing pants! Ha.
I found out last Friday morning with a great strong instantly-appearing line on a HPT but wasn't able to tell DH for various reasons, one of which was that my mom was in town all last weekend and the other was that my OB was concerned about the spotting I was having so I didn't know if I had good news. Well, my HCG was looking great as of yesterday afternoon (had to have 2 draws to check for doubling) so I felt I had the all clear last night.
I made him a gift bag with royal blue and pink that held a baby-sized White Sox hat (his fave) and then a card with booties on it with a message that he was a new daddy. I was wondering when he would catch on....so he opens the gift bag - blue and pink did not give it away. Then he gets to the hat - thanks me, and tries to put it on...when it didn't fit, he just puts it down and says thank you again...I can tell he's just trying to spare my feelings that I got him something that doesn't fit...then I tell him there's a card...FINALLY when he reads the card he gets it!! It was so awesome!!!
