Sawyer...Boy vs. Girl?

I have fallen in love with the name Sawyer for a boy. I did another poll on a different site, and found that it is now often used for girls. Wanted to get all of your opinions too. I have never met a "girl" Sawyer. Is it still Masculine?

I think if Tom Sawyer, or Sawyer on Lost. There are so many unisex names these days....is it a big deal? Thoughts?

  • I didn't vote because while I definitely think of Sawyer from Lost, I also know two little girls named Sawyer and it's really cute on them.  I think you could use it for either.

  • 100% boy. Tom Sawyer and Sawyer from Lost are my associations, too. I find it kind of an odd choice for a girl.

  • I agree. I mean, come on. It has the word "saw" in it. I don't understand how anyone thinks of it as feminine. And it's almost an occupation name, which is a boy trend if I ever "saw" one.

I despise this name for girls, but love it for boys. I say go for it!

  • I hate the name for either sex, but if i had to pick it would definitely be boy.

  • I have never thought of this for a girl...EVER.  This is a boy name only, in my opinion.

  • 100% boy

I've seen it for a girl a few times (on here, not IRL) and I always think, "Ehh... really?"

I don't get this name being used for a girl. Obviously I have a strong opinion since I used it for my son but I just don't think there is anything girly about it at all.

  • I voted Boy. Sawyer from Lost was the first thing that came to my mind.  I've never heard of a girl named Sawyer.
