positive test or evap line?

hey everyone. my period was due the first weel of august. i am recently engaged so with all the excitement i havent been keeping very good track of my cycle. so today i finally realized i havent had my flow for a while. i went and got a CVS pregnancy test and took one at work. the lighting at my desk is really dim so i thought it was neg. i looked at it again in the light when i got home a couple hours later and saw a very faint line. i took another test and the very faint line showed up sooner, i think. maybe i was seeing things. i have had some early pregnancy symptoms, but it could be PMS. what does this look like to everyone? PS i have read very mixed reviews about the CVS tests.

I don't really trust blue dye tests but there is a line... When was the picture taken? Did it show up right away or is this out of the time limit? (if its out of the time limit then its evap)

the first one i saw no line but was in bad lighting. the second time the faintest of lines appeared within the time frame. heres the invert!

I see the line. There no question its there and its blue, my guess it you are pregnant. Try again in the morning? (unless this is your FMU then try again tomorrow morning) But either way if it showed up in the time frame I would say you are pregnant congrats!

Add: I'm really paranoid about blue dye tests so maybe you should go buy a pink one just to confirm tomorrow.

LOL. Sorry I'm used to being on the trying to conceive board I was just lurking. I'm not really sure what advice to give you, but good luck! It's kinda dead around here at this time, but I'm sure you will get some more comments by tomorrow morning.

so if it shows up on the invert its a positive line and not a evap line?

Evap lines are called that cause they are from the urine drying and then causing a line where the antibodies are (the stuff that turns blue) to usually turn a grey color. This happens way after the time the directions say to read it. So as you said it happened in the alotted time, and it is a blue color I would say yes its a positive.

yeah. first test i have no idea when the line showed up. and maybe i was going cooky bananas the second test. just took a digital one that said no. so i guess im not

its not my first morning urine however. and i have peed a lot today and drank a lot of fluids. i dont know if that may have somehow messed the results

Did you pee in a cup and use the same urine for all three or did you just pee on each of them? If you just peed on all three your urine might be too diluted this time to show a positive. I'm not trying to freak you out or anything, but its best to take these tests in the morning after you have been sleeping and your urine is concentrated.

If you want to know for sure wait till the morning when you get up and try again (or even wait a day and try sundays morning urine).

i peed directly on the first two then dipped the negative one. also, would an evap line appear if the stick and all the material where your pee soaks in is still wet? is that a dumb question? i really dont know!

I'm not sure what the accuracy of the digitals compared to the other test you took. One might be more sensitive. The most sensitive test that I know of is the First Response Early result ones (but I may be wrong).

In my experience I have tested and got a negative - in the time the test told me to wait. Then on a whim I went back a few hours later and re-checked and there was a faint, faint, line. And I am most definately pregnant.

I say a line is a line. By another test and do it first thing in the morning.

digitals are not as sensitive. you need a first response. i used the cvs tests with this one and am definitely pregnant. i think you probably are. test in the morning with a First Response.

when you took your cvs test was the line faint or was it clear? i'm reading a lot of terrible things about the cvs tests abd blue dye tests in general. idk if it makes a difference but i used the first response gold digital.

 I would take a first response test. I took some tests just like the ones you took and had a very faint line like that also, twice, and I didn't trust them. When I took my first response tests I had faint but very much there lines on all three tests and am in fact pregnant. I know you're freaking out and this is bad timing..FWIW I had been engaged for 2 months when I got pregnant with DD..had my dress purchased in a size 2, date set and everything. You will figure things out. We kept our date the same, had my dress let out a tiny bit and got married when DD was 2 months old. I ended up being much more excited about having a baby then I was about getting married : ) GL!

I agree with PPs get a First Response test.  They are super sensitive.  If you still arent sure you can make an appointment with your GP and have them do a urine test for you.

I honestly can't see anything in your pictures (but i've also never taken those kinds of tests so I dont know what I'm lookikng for).  If the digital came out negative with your FMU then I would think your not pregnant.  My advice would be to wait a couple days and if you dont get AF then test again.  If it still comes up negative make an appointment with a doctor and get a test through them.

Yeah, and if you are pregnant, everything will work out fine..trust me. This pregnancy was the first time I ever took cheap test like that so I had to just buy first response after that since I know them and know what their negatives look like. I had faint lines but a line is a line and I have yet to get a period lol. I used my FMU with one of them but not the other two and they were all the same.  GL!

I would call them blue.

Definitely test again tomorrow with FMU with a pink dye test like First Response.

after a while many brands of test will be positive....so that is why the first 10 minutes is the only time you should read test. months ago I bought a cvs brand test it was negative right away. than an hour later it was positive... so the directions stated test should be read in just 10 minutes... sorry I don't think your pregnant but look at this way you can be excited about your wedding...

Thanks!  The pic was so huge I only scrolled and saw the test line and assume it was one of those plus tests and that I was looking at the control.

Same thing happened to me. Then I did some research and found out that if there is a line (whether it be light or dark) there is a line which means you are pregnant. The line could have come out light because you may not be far enough pregnant to get a definite positive. Take another test in a few days just to be sure. Also, the package says not to look at the test after 10 minutes because it could show a false negative. Good luck and congrats!

No, no, no, no, no.

A digital requires twice as much HCG in your urine to turn positive as a regular dye test. If she's testing very early, it's possible that a dye test would yield an accurate positive, but a digital will read negative- even with FMU.

The urine tests at the Dr's office are the exact same as the ones bought OTC. A blood test is a waste of everyone's money- did you not read that she was dropped from her parents' health policy?

OP- get a pink dye test, wait until tomorrow morning, and test again with FMU.

thanks again everyone! i'm going to give my period a couple more days to get here and then test again with a pink dye test if it doesn't. i'm having some slight cramping but i've been having that for a week, so maybe it's just crazy pms lol. i'll let y'all know!
