What do you think of the name Edison as a twist on the family name Edgar? My grandfather's name is Edgar. DH loves the name Edgar. I don't really like it but it would be nice to use for sentimental reasons. So I thought of Edison instead. Is that super geeky sounding?

    I went to school with an Edison--he went by Eddie. It's a drastic improvement on Edgar, which I really strongly dislike.

    Either one is a fine name as long as you are talking about a boy.  I have heard of girls named Edison....which is really bad considering the "Addison" trend.

    I love Edgar and since it's a family name, I'd go with that. I like Edison a lot too, but I worry it's going to sound super trendy with all the Grayson, Harrison, Hudson, etc that seem to be increasing in popularity. Along with Addison, Madison, etc for girls that PP mentioned.

    I like Edison; sorry, but I think Edgar is horrible. Has a gruff sound to it and also reminds me of Edgar from Men in Black. Ick!

    DH likes it because he says it is a strong name. But he likes agressive names like Maximillian and Claudius for some reason. I like more modern names that of course are really popular and everyone else likes too. If we have a girl it would be Makenna, and I think Edison goes better with that. We also talked about Nolan Edgar.

    Maximilian and Claudius to me are way cooler than Edgar. :) It's gruff in more of an unattractive way rather than a "strong" way iykwim. I like Nolan though. :)
