After 5 weeks of bedrest, I made it to my goal of 36 weeks! I was contracting more and more with each passing day despite taking the Procardia. Even that day I was contracting more but pain level only a 2 or 3 max. They would be 5-6 min apart and then would separate after a half hour or so. I decided for some reason to call my OB anyway and they had me go in to L&D for a check. Once I got moving around to pack the contractions seemed to taper off and I thought I was going in for nothing. As it was they didn't hurt at all really, more uncomfortable.
I walked into L&D, contractions again weren't anything to speak of. I was smiling, laughing and assumed I'd be sent home. Got monitored, babies were fine. My OB told the L&D nurse to check me and I was dilated to 7cm! Everyone was shocked. It was now am emergency c-section since Baby B was still breech and estim bigger than A and was so close to delivering. They had to kick out another mom to get me in first.
Joaquin Kingston was born at 6:44pm at 6lbs 2 ozs and 17.5 inches
Helena Josephine was born at 6:45pm at 5lbs 14ozs and 18 inches
8/9 Apgars for both. They were allowed to room with us after a couple hours of observation - although we left them in the nursery because I was sick, had the shakes and given benadryl for itching from the anesthesia and didn't feel comfortable taking care of them yet. They arrived in our room early morning and have been in room without any problems. Breastfeeding is going awesome. We were going to leave early today (instead of tomorrow) but Helena failed the carseat test so we are staying one more night and hoping she passes tomorrow morning so she can come home with us.
The c-section recovery was ten times more difficult than a vag delivery and the experience was less intimate. If you have the option, try vaginal. DH and I got a system by night 3 so that has helped to get through the night better.
Re: Had my babies at 36 weeks exactly!!
I was just asking about you! Dinnertime told me you had the babes! Congrats, and I love their names.
BTW, yours were the same exact weights as mine!

Congrats on your babies and making it to 36! Love their names too
I too have been contracting constantly (also, uncomfortable & occasionally slightly painful) since 31 weeks, and am wondering if my birth story will be similar. Sometimes I want to just call L&D and lie & tell them they are really painful (not that I ever would, but still) -- 7 cm! Dang girl!
congrats!!!!
sorry your recovery isn't going great. My c/s was 100x's easier than my vaginal - so you just never know.
enjoy them!
Congrats on two big healthy babies.
By the way, we must had the same recovery experience - those shakes were crazy! I ended up staying in recovery for 16 hours...
