Was anyone's son born with this? We go for one of my son's check up next month and then surgery is in October. Just curious to know what others went through. It's already starting to make me nervous!
Matthew had this and his repair was when he was around 9 months old. He was fine and was back to his old self in no time. The worst part was having to keep the cathater in for 2 weeks. He pulled it out the day before we were supposed to have it removed.
Brady had surgery for this in June. He came home with a cath for two weeks which actually didn't last in him two weeks because he pulled it out! I recommend doing at the youngest age they allow you to do the surgery because once they are mobile it makes it hard! PM if you have more questions!

We went through the surgery at 9 months. It wasn't so bad. The hardest part was seeing him in the recovery room in the giant bed. He had the catheter in for 7 days and we had to double diaper during that time. He also had bladder spasms which were awful, but once the catheter came out they went away.
He healed really well. Looks good as new.
