Favorite parenting books

What is your favorite parenting book? I went to the store to get the "Healthy sleeping habits, happy baby" book and they didn't have it in stock so I am going to order it online, but wondered what other parenting books are worth reading? I feel like I can really use to educate myself, or maybe just read some books for peace of mind that i am not alone in this crazy parenting world.

Re: Favorite parenting books

  • I'm not a parent. But as a social worker I work with parents a lot. One of my favorites is the Love and Logic books by Foster Cline. Another one that might be helpful as well particularly since your a new parent is Parenting from the Inside Out, which is all about early childhood attachment. I'm not sure what you're looking for exactly, but I hope this helps.

  • I don't have any others to suggest, but I just wanted to warn you about Healthy Sleep Habits... I only started finding it extremely useful at about 4 months. It was somewhat helpful before then, but there were quite a few times when I thought, "ok I want it to tell me what is the right thing to do right now!". I really hope it helps you though, and that you can get a little more peace and quiet in your house! I was also going to suggest, if you haven't already, try having him sleep with his head elevated. B slept in her infant seat, newborn napper on the pack and play, and in the swing. That was helpful for us and couldn't hurt to try! GL!
