Back from Baptism Prep!

We just had our baptism preparation class! It is starting to feel more real. The woman at the church said that it would be a good time to come so early since things will start to get busier the longer we wait - getting bigger, taking baby classes, etc. Too excited, just wanted to share. And for those who haven't thought this far ahead (like I normally don't), just a reminder to get this figured out.

Uhhh... one takes classes? Hehe... I guess it makes sense since you do to join and to get married in a church. I will probably ask after 24 weeks.

Hey sweetie I just have to ask and I'm sorry if this is rude...any chance you are Catholic?  I only ask b/c I am and I know we have to take a prep class before-hand too.  If so, how long do the classes last?

Good call! We planned on inquiring about the baptism this week at church. I know it is stilll early but we would like LO baptized early May so I don't want to wait until after the baby is born to take the class.

Yep we sure are Catholic. At our church it was only 2 classes for slightly over an hour each. We talked and watched a baptism video and got a handbook on how the baptism would go, exactly what would be said, etc. We also discussed some options we have, like we could do a nude baptism which from watching the video I actually liked (and had never heard of before today)...it seems so pure. Since it was only us and another couple, we got all of the classes done just today. It is quick and painless and nice to have it out of the way and one step closer!

Oh and it cost a small fee at our church of $20.

SWEET!  Our marriage prep classes were pretty long and I think there were 16 or so classes so I was thinking, "Eek!  That and the Bradley classes?!"  But 2 classes I can do before or after harvest and not run out of time, YAY.  Thanks for describing it too, I had no idea what to expect, I assume it will be similar here.  I didn't know you could have the kiddo naked either, I guess I'd have to see if we are shown a video of it so I know what to expect (I know that sounds weird, sorry).  You have to admit though, the christening/baptism gowns/suits are so cute even if they are only worn once.

Aw thanks that makes me feel really good! Little does anyone know though that this is about the only thing I'm on top of. LOL. I am finally kicking my butt and getting this stuff figured out though - day care is tomorrow.

Haha yeah, I really had no idea what to expect from these classes. The thing about the christening gowns - toward the end of the baptism there is a part where you actually dress the baby. So the baby still gets to wear the gown, you just have them nude for the main portion of the baptism and the actually 'dunking'. I have to say if I just heard you could do nude, it would sound weird, but since I saw it, I thought it was precious. However - if you are having a boy you have to think he could possibly pee and it would go everywhere and be really funny!

One thing at a time!  I love getting to cross things off my to-do list so hopefully that was satisfying for you, too!
