Two Under 2

Did you have more trouble losing weight after #2?

I feel like it's taking alot longer for the weight to come down this time around.  I don't know why I'm so obsessed with it this time.  Last time, I either didn't worry about it, or it came off much easier, or it was because my DD was born in the winter and I only wore sweats.  But this time around, I feel so focused on the last 15 pounds that won't move from my hips, butt and stomach.  Maybe it's because summer clothes are so much less forgiving?  Or is it just harder second time around?

  • I think it's the summer clothes thing...your Lo is still very young so I wouldn't worry too much, it'll come off.  I just lost the last little bit that was hanging on.

With #1 I gained 48 lbs and lost it all by 16 weeks pp.

With #2 I gained 36 lbs and lost it all by 12 weeks pp

  • I haven't lost a single thing since I left the hospital...I don't have time to go to the gym and I neeeeed to exercise. Any time I try to cut back on my food intake my milk supply tanks. We just ordered a treadmill...so hopefully that can start things!

  • It definitely has been harder for me to lose weight after #2, and I only gained 18 pounds with him.  I lost 10 or 12 pounds within the first month.  For some reason the last 4 or 5 pounds have been impossible to get rid of, and he's a year old!  Been going to the gym since January and the weight still won't budge, but I just started boot camp so I'm hopeful that will help!!

But do cut yourself a break - your DC is not even two months old yet!  Summer clothes just show more skin so it's harder to feel comfortable when you weigh more than you are used to.

  • It has actually come off faster for me the second time and I am not doing anything besides walking and breastfeeding... I assume from running around with my oldest more?  I gained 30lbs both times and am back to my pre-preg weight however I am not the same shape... the scale says I have lost it but I still have pudge around the waist and don't fit into all of my old pants because of that... when my dd was as young as yours I still had about 10lbs to lose though...

  • OMG YES. It has been much harder and I gained 20lbs LESS the second time. I am so much more tired with a toddler to chase after and a baby that any down time I have I don't want to spend it exercising. I want to be sleeping!  When #1 was a baby we would go for a lot of walks or I would do the Wii Fit while he was in the swing or bouncer.  I can't do much of that with a two year old who likes to "join" me on the balance board.

  • Yup. DD#2 is a year now, and I'm still five pounds from my pre-pregnancy weight. However, I'm not as much concerned with my weight as I am with not fitting into any of my pants. Truthfully, I don't think I'll ever weigh what I did, but I do wish to tone up more and fit comfortably into my old pants. They zip and button, but they are not comfortable:-( If I exercised a bit more, I think it could happen.

  • I was the opposite too. It took me about 8 months to get back to pre-preg weight from #1, and #2 is 3 months old and I am already back to it, minus two pounds. I am not sure why it's come off faster; maybe because #2 eats so much more than #1 did! LOL

Oh, I gained about 25 lbs both times

  • yep i am having a harder time losing the weight this time around. By now with DD i was back down to my pre-preg weight. This time i still have 5-10 lbs to lose. I keep telling myself 9 months up 9 month down-lol:) give it a few more months!

I was opposite too.  I lost the weight from both pregnancies in the first 2-3 months. I didn't try or go the gym.  DH thought it was b/c I don't have time to sit still with both.  Plus, like above post, #2 eats a lot more.
