I had my D&C last Wednesday (8/11) and I know it's possible that doctors sometimes don't get everything...and maybe this is my body's way of getting everything that shouldn't be in there right now naturally, but I was wondering if anyone has passed tissue and/or clots after your D&C? I have cramping, which is unlike menstral/uterus cramping -- it feels more like vaginal cramping. To explain that a little, it basically hurts to sit down sometimes. Any others out there?!?

Re: Is post D&C tissue normal?
I had a d&c on July 20th. I then ended up bleeding heavily with clots (like a pad an hour) and had constant cramping. I ended up in the ER needing a second d&c the following week due to retained tissue from the pregnancy. I felt a lot better after the second surgery.
I hesitated to call my doctor because I assumed it was normal, but definitely call your doctor tomorrow. It always helps ease my mind when a doctor tells me it is ok.
I am sending good thoughts your way. Hugs.
I didn't pass any tissue but everyone is different. If it is anything to have you question or concerened, I would give the doc a call.
How was your first day back to school?
About 2 days post d&c, I had to stay home from work because I was cramping (could be described as contractions) so badly. Hours later, I ended up passing a 1" by 3" clot, and immediately felt better. I had other very small discharges, probably tissue - about the size of dimes.
I called a nurse, who said passing a clot like that was actually normal, and heavy bleeding is what they watch for. My doc said the same thing in my f/u appt.
I wish I'd taken some notes, but I don't remember still cramping a week post-op. Maybe you can call your OB's nurse or a call-a-nurse line at a local hospital to see if they are concerned?
