Has anyone made fresh lima beans for baby? I picked some up from the farmers market and am not really sure what to do with them. Any suggestions on how to cook them and what to puree them with (spices, etc.)??
the only way I know to cook lima beans is with some bacon & butter in the crockpot! LMAO! Like a true texan !
FYI..I made a pot of pinto beans (Very Bland, no seasonings other than some garlic and sliced onion...I scooped out some once they were done & then seasoned them & cooked for a bit longer) I gave her like 4 beans & they made her so gassy. She was actually crying, & I wasn't sure why & I was rubbing her back & she let out the biggest man fart! LOL! I felt horrible! So maybe have some gas drops on hand!
ETA: I scooped out the unseasoned ones for her & then seasoned the rest of the pot for me & DH. I was unclear. But my point was that it made her really gassy! LOL
Don't quote me on this, but I think boiling them is the best way to cook them. As for spices, if they were for me, I'd add garlic, but I don't know about for Max. Maybe just plain to start?

Yeah - lima beans can make you a bit gassy. I don't eat them becuase they make DS gassy - so I don't plan on giving them to him directly via spoon.
I've done fresh peas. I simmered them in water until they were easy to squish and then pureed the whole mess with an immersion blender. The only spice I've used so far is powdered garlic and that didn't go over so well.
