Pregnancy and the flu

Hi there.

Many of you would have been pregnant during the H1N1 and seasonal flu craziness ...

If you were exposed the flu, did you go on anti-virals--even without getting a flu-blown flu diagnosis. Or, did they just tell you to avoid contact with someone who has the flu.

Thanks!

Re: Pregnancy and the flu

  • Congrats on the pregnancy!

I received the H1N1 vaccine and 5 days later (because it takes 2 weeks to get immunity) I contracted what my doc thought was H1N1.  They put me on Tamiflu, it was safe during pregnancy and I started to feel better within a couple of days.  I never got tested to see if it was H1N1 confirmed, but because I exhibited 2 out of the 3 symptoms they put me on the anti-viral as a precaution.

  • Congratulations!!!!

I got the shots (H1N1 and the regular one - could be one shot this year) with no side effects aside from a sore shoulder.  Oh, and sore feet.  I had to stand in a line for three hours for the H1N1, back before it was available in doctors offices.  :)
