Hawaii Babies

For those mommas who had a baby blog...

...to document your pregnancy and when your baby was born, did you also have an actual baby book for your LO or will you be using your blog as your baby book?

I'm working on a blog now to document my pregnancy, but was on the fence for documenting all the same things in an actual baby book.  Thoughts?

Re: For those mommas who had a baby blog...

  • I have both.  Unfortunately, I don't keep up as well as I'd like with either of them!

The baby book I have doesn't have much space to document pregnany, I think one or two pages.

  • Just the blog, which I plan to turn into a memory book later.  But I did save some keepsakes that I'll put in a baby box or scrapbook when I'm feeling crafty!

  • disclaimer :) - I don't have a baby blog but I do have a traditional baby book.

I really enjoy reading the baby books my mom and DH's mom did for each of us.  They say some things are hereditary so it was fun to see when each of us got our first tooth compared to Jack.  (and I can brag that I walked two months earlier than DH!! haha).

To help keep it updated I just use a plain calendar and try to write in one fun fact of the day before bed and then if that data is stuff the baby book asks for I go back and update the real book with the fill in the blanks (first laugh, check up stats, etc).  That way I don't have to search out the right spot in the book all the time.  I guess the calendar will be a fun keep sake too.

Blogs will be fun - purely for the pictures an all that, but maybe a little less user friendly for those few set facts that a baby book wants to know.

Also, I'm not a very good writer so a fill in the blank type book is much less scary for me.  If you are a good writer like many people on the board a blog will be a wonderful keepsake, but I just think they serve different purposes.

  • I have both. The blog is more extensive and the baby book is something simpler to read/follow/flip through. For example, I don't really document my difficult first tri, failing my first glucose test or the birth story in the baby book--I do that in the blog. The baby book would just have when he was born/how much he weighed/etc. That's just how I'm doing it at least...

  • Both. Blog is daily updates and video and photos for family. Book is a cliff note version that she can look thru one day.

  • Thanks everyone for their input.  I'm thinking I will go and get an actual baby book just for the sentimental stuff and keep the blog for the family updates.  :)
