I am not talking cookies and snacks, but reasonably healthy mealtime requests.
This morning for breakfast F ate:
nectarine
small banana
1/2 cup natural applesauce
slice of wheat French toast with tsp of syrup
strawberry yogurt
cup of milk
Finley can take down fruit, I don't want to tell her no when she asks for it because I don't want to turn her off of it.
Any advice?
Re: Do you ever deny food?
Geesh.....she eats more in 1 sitting than my kid eats in a day, it seems like! (K just isn't usually a very big eater)
I think everything you mentioned is pretty healthy (though that is a good bit of sugar) so I wouldn't worry about it....she's just growing!
Yes, I do deny food. I didn't quite so much at Finley's age, but around age 2, I started being more conscious of keeping their calorie intakes at a reasonable level. Like Suzi-G, though, I will give them extra fruit only if they've eaten a decent amount of the rest of their meal. If it is apples, pears, berries, or something with less sugar, I'll give them more than I would if it were mango, oranges, banana, grapes, pineapple, etc. But I'll still limit the amount of fruit to 3-4 sservings per day to control their sugar. If they insist they're still hungry, I'll offer them extra vegetables.
I don't deny fruit. Rena is a pretty picky eater and doesn't eat very much lately but loves fruit. So I let her have as much as she wants.
I'm amazed at how much Finley can eat at once...especially all that Center Court pizza!!
She is always low on the weight % chart, but now that she has tasted Center Court, I fear what her two year appointment is going to be!
So Tasty, So Yummy
this pretty much goes for maddy, too.
E has days where she eats an incredible amount, and I don't usually deny her the extra unless I feel like she's going to make herself sick. If I felt she was binging on fruit I'd probably try to get some protein in her, but I wouldn't make an issue of it. Part of me thinks that if she's craving these things then maybe it's what her body needs right now.
The only big rules we have are no more than 4 prunes at one time (lesson learned!) and no more than 2 cups of cherry tomatoes at one time.
