How to spell

We really like the name Aniaha for a girl but we cannot agree on a spelling. Some variations are Aniya, Aniyah, and like I originally spelled it Aniaha. Which one looks "right" and what do you think of the name? Other ways to spell it?

Re: How to spell

  • how do you pronounce it? On-ee-ah-ha? Ah-ny-ah?

  • How many syllables are you going for?
  • Uh-Nie-Ya.....guess I could have wrote that in the first place.

I think it's Ah-ny-ah, based on the other spellings. But based on the first spelling, I wouldn't know it was pronounced like that. I would think either Aniya or Aniyah would be right, not Aniaha.

  • My thoughts are that this name sounds made up. I don't like it but I had no idea how to pronounce Aniaha. I would go with Aniya if you must use this name. I'm assuming you want it pronounced Ah-nye-uh?
  • It should somthing like Mariah but just Aniah, I don't think we made it up.

  • I think the spelling most likely to produce the pronunciation you want is probably Aniyah, followed by Aniya. I don't think the y is very pretty, but without it (Aniah, Ania), I want to pronounce it more like Anya (ON-yuh).

Do not use Aniaha. I cannot see how it could ever be pronounced "uh-NYE-uh."

  • Aniya.

Aniyah is the less-popular way to spell it, according to name voyager.

  • My opinion is that if you aren't sure how to spell it, don't use it. If it's not listed in any baby name resources, it's a little too UNEEK for my taste.

    Are you serious? WTF people?

... as in.... Annihilate? Seriously? #180?!

I'm sorry, but I'm gonna need a five minute break after this one.

WoW, you may have just ruined this name for me. I have never thought that it sounded like the first part of Annihilate but it definately does....BOOO!

  • I prefer the Aniyah spelling. Aniya looks like ah-nee-ah to me. I would have no clue how to pronounce Aniaha. It is a pretty name.

  • Haven't read the other responses yet, but this name is a little too close for comfort to the word "annihilate". Please don't do it!
