So, I just started my 2nd round of clomid, at 100mg. But this time it's totally different. I haven't felt really anything, like I did with my first cycle. It felt like my ovaries were going to explode! This time, I have nothing going on, except the hot flashes. Also, I am on cd 11 and I am using my clear blue digital fertility monitor, and it is suppose to start at low fertility, then move to high fertility, then to peak. Well, according my app on my phone I should be on the second day of high fertility, and my monitor has yet to budge from low..
Is it possible that the clomid isn't going to work this time? I am starting to stress, and freak myself, and that only leads to a pending emotional outburst. Any ideas advice? anything? Is it normal not to feel as many side effects the second time? Is it normal to not feel anything going on with your body? I'm confused, this is only the second time I have done clomid, and I have no one else to ask!!!
Re: Clomid help??
The app on your iPhone isn't testing your bodily fluids so I'm going to say it's probably not accurate.
Are you not being monitored by your doc with u/s so you know what's going on in there?
First of all everyone on here will tell you to make sure that you are being properly monitored while on Clomid.
Now that that's out of the way I will say that I had a very similar experience. My very first cycle I felt actually heavy around my ovaries to the point that I started walking from up to my house my car using our sidewalk instead of the flagstone pavers I usually use because the bouncing from paver to paver was painful! The second cycle was nothing like that. I had zero sensation or side effects.
I'm about to start cycle #3 and hoping for a better reaction. Good luck to you.
I did not feel anything on 50 or 100, but when I increased to 150 I felt all the symptoms. I wonder why he increased you to 100 if 50 seemed to be working? You need to schedule a day 21 progesterone test to see if you ovulated. If you ovulated with 50 I don't see a need to increase to 100.
I figured it might be a good idea to explain why monitoring is important on Clomid. That way you can make an informed decision.
1) Clomid is meant to cause you to produce multiple follicles - the more follicles you produce, the more likely the chance of you getting pregnant with HOM (high order multiples). Multiples pregnancies are dangerous for both the mother and babies and the more babies in there, the more dangerous they are. Without monitoring, you would have no idea how many follicles you have and what your risk of HOM is.
2) Some people do not respond to Clomid. They don't produce any follicles. If that is the case with you, without monitoring, you would have no way of knowing that and would just be wasting your time each cycle when you could have switched to a drug that you have a better response to or maybe upped your dosage.
3) One of the side effects of Clomid is a thinned lining. With a too thin lining, implantation is impossible. Monitoring will tell you how thick/thin your lining is. Again, you would be able to tell if you need to switch medications (and there are other options).
4) Another side effect of Clomid is that it can produce cysts. This is more important on your second, third, etc. Clomid cycles because if you do get a cyst and take Clomid again, the cyst could grow right along with your follicles and could burst or at the very least cause you crazy amounts of pain.
