Limits on rewards for using the potty?

We just put DS in underwear yesterday. He's been going on the potty off and on for a few weeks now. We are not following any method- just decided pull-ups aren't for us and went straight to undies.

He never really wants to stop playing to go sit so now that he is in underwear, we decided to do rewards to get him more interested. He gets a sticker for trying and a gummy bear if he actually goes.

He's caught on so he'll go sit every few minutes, squeeze a drop out and ask for a gummy bear. Do I just go with it or do I set limits on when he tries? Clearly he is just going for the candy, not because he has to go.
