Question about washing new clothes

I am washing a few pieces of clothing a little early so that the dog can begin to sniff at them to "prepare" for the baby. In regards to washing baby items for the first time, do you throw them in the dryer, or do they have a tendency to shrink?? A lot of the items are Carter's items, not sure if that helps. I just don't want to shrink these pieces on the first shot. Thanks!!

I never found any of our clothes to shrink, except Gerber.  They shrink horribly and run really small in the first place.

I've washed clothes multiple times since we have animals, and sometimes they tend to get into things when we're not looking >.> Never have had any problems with shrinkage.

I dry almost all of DD clothing.  I will hang any nicer dresses or outfits.  I always dry Carters things.

Gerber's are small and will shrink but Carter's don't really shrink and Osh Kosh definitely don't shrink.
